The data would quite illuminating and revealing if the other side could read. However, the exchanges you shared are the tip of the iceberg. In Trump's America, science itself has been rejected. There is no global warming; people can live with carcinogens (from unregulated industry) in their drinking water and polluted air and soil; and -- yes -- numbers are conveniently pulled out of the air to support erroneous conclusions (and damned lies).

Like you, I have encountered "patriots" who believe the vile nonsense. I cite articles published in peer-reviewed journals; they cite Fox News or Alex Jones -- or simply assure me that "everybody knows..."

Surely Orwell was correct. Ignorance IS strength, and look at the people in power in the USA today!

True story: a white straight guy who happened to live a few blocks away from one of my children was discovered to have been given the five daughters of an Amish couple who owed him money. Yes he was raping at least one of them.

With respect, madam, I very much doubt that. Straight white men, especially straight white Republicans, are not capable of such behavior.

The fact that random people project in such a gross manner says far more about them. Horrific things happen much more often at the hands of straight males than ever have when a gay couple take the beautiful step to adopt a child.
