Delicatessen M: Roleplay
A Legend in His Own Minefield deplores Israel's grutalization of the Palestinians
The New Yorker, one of the author’s favorite magazines, recently ran a humor piece about S&M (the woke version is BDSM, but maybe I ain’t so woke in some things), and I was reminded of the little sketches I wrote in 2013 in hopes of getting Comedy Central to hand over a development budget. Never happened, of course, but you’re sure to derive limitless amusement from the three little videos I made with the actress, singer, artist, and writer Lynn Carey.
This here’s the third of three!
[I dare imagine that it was Yiddish speakers leaving off “it” or “yourself” or other that lead to the intransitivization of the verb that constitutes the whole of the following paragraph.]
Enjoy!
...and I'm Overcome With Shame
This isn’t the first time I’ve been ashamed of my country. I wasn’t exactly marching around the room waving the Stars ‘n’ Stripes after Abu Ghraib. The difference being that when that ghastly story broke, Obama had become president, and I foolishly imagined he’d be a gigantic improvement over that imbecile GWB. The night his victory over John McCain, I …
George Bernard Shaw said that the test of a first rate intelligence was being able to hold two competing and opposite thoughts and still be able to function.
There is also a thing called cognitive dissonance,a poorly understood condition, because I've seen the term thrown around carelessly and misused.
Cognitive dissonance is something that is felt, you can not assess or judge someone else as experiencing cognitive dissonance. It is that uncomfortable feeling one gets when what comes out of the mouth does not align with what, actually believes or which is part of their identity.
CG manifests itself physically with sweat, discomfort, increased pulse, nervousness even tremors.
This discomfort can be measured, they call it a lie detector.
Actors, scammers, professional criminals have learned to overcome cognitive dissonance.
That is how Robin Williams could play Mrs Doubtfire without trembling all over himself, and how Dustin Hoffman could play Rainman.
As to how this applies to me. I can't help but watch all of those suffering children, in Gaza without feeling that twinge of horror and pity.
At that same time. There is one group, that is responsible for their anguish and that is HAMAS,
HAMAS is totally responsible for the destruction of Gaza and the suffering of the people it supposedly represents.
HAMAS are cowards, they hide behind women, children and hostages using them as human shields.
And Israel. The IDF is killing these people and destroying their homes and hospitals, and yet I wonder what the critics would do, if they found themselves under attack by blood thirsty terrorists who gleeful murder women, children, the elderly, disabled, rape girls while hollering Allahu Akbar.
What would yo do if a gang invaded your neighborhood ,raped and murdered some family and friends and then ran off to their own neighborhood with hostages, using women and children as human shields.
What would you do. Invite them over for tea and crumpets?
